Busy Hanoi
Vietnam
Last stop in Vietnam in the capital city of Hanoi. Although I spent a few days there, I'm a bit ashamed to say that I didn't do much visiting. I mostly walk around the Old Quarter. The town is very busy with the usual crazy Vietnam traffic. The Old Quarter is a maze of small streets packed with shops, restaurants and bars. Life only seems to slow down late at night. You can clearly f... read more »

A Beautiful Two Hours Boat Ride in Trang An
Vietnam
I had a great time in Hanoi, mainly due to making some very nice local friends. On my last day there, we all went together on a day trip. I had agreed on it without even checking where we were going. I was there for the good time but I got to enjoy a beautiful boat ride in Trang An. Trang An is like Halong Bay on the land. The region is made of karst mountains with rivers flowing in betw... read more »

One Night in Halong Bay
Vietnam
I don't think Halong Bay needs any presentation. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, the bay is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. Unfortunately for me, the weather was not very good which always makes it harder to really enjoy a new place. I can however imagine how with a blue sky the bay can be beautiful. ![Halong Bay](ht... read more »

Getting Some Fresh Air in Sapa
Vietnam
Sapa is one of the most famous tourist spot in Vietnam and it was always recommended by every traveler I met. Up in the North of Vietnam, Sapa is located in the mountains, surrounded by rice paddies. From Hanoi, every hotel and travel agencies in town can sell you a number of tours for three or more nights. It is of course reachable by yourself but as I was short on time, I opted for a t... read more »

Going Underground In One Of The Biggest Cave In The World
Vietnam
Phong Nha Cave is one of the biggest in the world and features an underground river and impressive heights. The inside of the cave is reached from the town of Phong Nga by boat. After a short ride 1km deep, you get to walk for a few hundred meters in one of the biggest grotto. Although this is a big tourist spot (at least for Vietnamese people, not many western tourists) and the cave i... read more »

In the Steps of the Emperor in Hue
Vietnam
Hué used to be the capital of the Empire and thus the Imperial City was located there. Surrounded by the Citadel it still needs a lot of restoration work (due to US bombing) but is worth a visit. ![Citadel Gate](http://travelingcoder.com/media/in-the-steps-of-the-emperor-in-hue/citadel-gate.jpg) There are also many shrines and emperor tombs in the region. I found the Tuduc Tomb to be... read more »

Falling in Love with Hoi An
Vietnam
Hoi An is the place everybody is raving about. I met so many travelers who tell you how great Hoi An is so I couldn't wait to visit. After spending 3 days there, you can count me as one of the fans. Hoi An is a small peaceful town located alongside a river, a few kilometers away from the beach. It has a very laid back atmosphere. The Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is incre... read more »

Diving in Nha Trang
Vietnam
Short stop in Nha Trang between two night buses to try out diving in Vietnam. The place is famous for its beaches and is a very big touristic location. I had heard good things about the diving there and after more than 2 months without going underwater, I wanted to do some dives. I booked a 3 dives trip with Rainbow Divers for 90$. I would happily recommend them as the equipment was new... read more »

Surrounded by Motorbikes in Ho Chi Minh City
Vietnam
After three weeks in Cambodia, is was time to discover a new country! Vietnam here I am, starting with a few days in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), ex-Saigon. HCMC is a busy, modern and quickly growing city. I was very surprised how modern it was. It's also huge, something you can particularly appreciate from the top of the Bitexco tower, the tallest in town (where it is also a perfect place to... read more »
